Ease and Freedom

Since studying with Lisa, I am happier with my singing than I have ever been. She has helped me find an ease and freedom that has opened up a whole new range of expressive and technical possibilities."

-Charles Cooney, Professional Tenor

Quality Technique

In my time studying with Lisa, I felt that I learned how to embrace my natural voice. Until that point, I felt like I was trying to sound like what I thought "a tenor" should sound like. With her guidance and encouragement, I embraced my voice as it developed and matured from early/mid 20s to 30s. The focus on consistent, quality technique, as well as vocal freedom was key to this success.

Transformational

“I've worked with Lisa for nearly a decade.  She has consistently been a creative and supportive mentor, always willing to try new approaches to the material until it sinks in and always willing to adapt the lesson to fit the often unanticipated needs of a mature student whose work shifts regularly from sacred and classical repertoire to musical theatre to cabaret. In recent years, the introduction of Alexander Technique processes has been transformational, in terms of both lesson content and of the quality of sound production and consistency achieved.”

Highly knowledgeable, Inspiring

Lisa is a wonderful teacher! In addition to being highly knowledgeable and dedicated to continuing education within her field, she is an open and inspiring teacher who happily meets her students wherever they are. Her years of experience and supportive personality allow her to tailor lessons to students' individual needs. Lisa welcomes everyone--from beginners to professionals--with open arms, providing her students with tools to develop greater confidence, ease, and joy in singing.

A revelation every time!

I have been a  choir singer, a soprano, pretty much all my life. At the age of 53, after struggling with my breath in a vocal quartet at church, I decided it was time to get voice lessons.Luckily I already knew Lisa as a wonderful singer and appreciated her warm personality. It takes courage to open up to a voice teacher. To me, singing for someone means allowing them to have a personal peak into our soul. I leave every lesson completely transformed and energized. Her thoughtful exercises, her deep understanding and empathy with vocal issues, helped me to overcome my shyness. She taught me how to be engaged with my whole body and to try new things, helping me to discover new freedom where I once felt tight and breathless. It’s a journey of trust and happy discoveries.

Extraordinary-Freer Singing!

I have been working with Lisa for two years.  As an older choral singer, I had acquired many unconscious bad habits which were restricting my ability to sing as well as making singing stressful at times.  Lisa has worked to help me recognize these issues and provided support and guidance for overcoming them. My singing has improved significantly.  Her knowledge of the body mechanics involved in singing and how to put them to best use is extraordinary.  With “freer” singing, I am able to sing songs and choral passages that were difficult and stressful a couple of years ago. With the benefit of Lisa’s extensive teaching and musical background, I have expanded my solo repertoire and general musicianship.  I enjoy working with Lisa and always look forward to our next session.

Really cares. Great knowledge!

I’ve worked with several voice teachers. Lisa is by far the best of the lot. She has such great knowledge and really cares about her students. I take private lessons and attend her workshops. She is a teacher I can recommend without reservations!

-Andrea Scott, soprano; choral singer

Learned so much!

I cannot say enough good things about Lisa.  I studied with her for 9 years and learned so much and had even more fun!  Initially I wanted to be able to chant better and we concentrated on that, but then Lisa got me to branch out.  She never forced me to do anything, she didn’t have to, as she made both successes and failures beneficial to my learning. Lessons started out with something new she had learned, offering a variety of tools to help me to come into coordination. She always knew how much, or little, I had practiced and would make suggestions on how to get more practice time in. Lisa always was interested in what was going on in my life. I would still be studying with Lisa, however I moved out of state, but if I don’t find someone quickly, I will continue to work with her via on line platforms.  Now, how many voice teachers do you know who even teach on-line?
